– (August 25, 2010) – With affordable homes, beautiful parks and great schools among

other amenities, Cudahy leaders believe the South Shore community along Lake Michigan is a

great place to put down roots. That’s why they are taking the unique step of holding their first

ever city-wide open house, to cast a spotlight on all homes for sale in Cudahy.

Hosted by the Department of Economic Development, the open house on Saturday, September

25, 2010 will give prospective homebuyers an opportunity to tour dozens of single-family and twofamily

homes within a short period of time. More than 100 homes are currently on the market in

“We asked all realtors and owners who are selling independently to hold their homes open

between noon and 4:00 p.m.,” said Lara Fritts, Director of Economic Development for the City of

Cudahy. “The response was overwhelming. Everyone is looking forward to the opportunity to

show off their properties -- and the entire community -- to a large group of interested buyers.”

Before starting their tour, home seekers are encouraged to stop by Cudahy City Hall (5050 S.

Lake Dr.) to pick up an open house map and meet with a banker to pre-qualify for a home loan.

They’ll also be able to research utility costs and find out about city departments and services.

A separate information area will be set up in the auxiliary gym at Cudahy High School (4950 S.

Lake Dr.). Attendees will be able to get advice from home improvement experts and learn about

the assets that contribute to Cudahy’s great quality of life, including the Cudahy School District,

local hospitals and parks and organizations such as the YMCA, Kelly Senior Center, Cudahy

Lions Club and Cudahy Historical Society.

Mayor Tony Day says visitors who are not already familiar with Cudahy will be pleasantly

“This community is truly a hidden gem,” Mayor Day said. “Our neighborhoods are affordable and

stable and just a short ride to downtown Milwaukee and the airport. We have beautiful parks,

great schools and a historic downtown that is undergoing significant revitalization.”

Many Cudahy shops and restaurants have agreed to show their support for the Cudahy Open

House by putting balloon bouquets or other eye-catching displays outside their businesses on the

day of the event. Home seekers who stop inside could receive a coupon or discount on their
