Why Not

I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.

Election Day Thoughts

Having spent the last few weeks at home, I am sure most of you are as tired as I am of the Primary propoganda.  I have to say that 75% of calls and mail have to do with the election. I have even gone as far as ask questions of the caller when it is a live person on issues that affect me.  In every case I am told we'll have to get back to you.

It was Abraham Lincoln who said at the Republican Covention on June 16, 1858 "A house divided against itself can not stand.  I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free"

From Lincoln's First Inaugural Address March 4, 1861 "

"In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow-countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The Government will not assail you. You can have no conflict without being yourselves the aggressors. You have no oath registered in heaven to destroy the Government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect, and defend it.

I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."

While Lincoln was talking about the Civil War, I think that the comments hold true today when dealing/coping with Democrats, Republicans and the Media.

There is such a division in this country and it appears to be ripping it apart.  Nobody in Government has trust in the other Party.  If every elected official has a sense of distrust, how are we supposed to show faith in all of the elceted officials.  I know that the squeeky wheel gets the oil, but it seems that we have run out of oil.

What if we just ignored all of them, the elected officials as well as the media who help perpetuate this division.  Has our society changed to the point that we only have 2 choices, and you have to choose between the extreme left or the extreme right.  Where is the middle of the political parties? Is it going the way of the middle class?

When you vote on Tuesday, and please vote, please remember that  we are One Nation, Under God, Indivisible with Liberty and Justice for ALL.
