Why Not

Blizzard Day Thoughts

Now that most of the shoveling is complete, I get to spend a second "quality" day with my 3 kids.  It may be a bit to cold to spend it in the backyard like yesterday though.

Some observations from Wednesday's storm:

When the Cudahy DPW got to my neighborhood yesterday, they were very efficient.  I would say that from the time I saw the first plow until they finished my street and alley, it was about an hour or so.  A big thank you goes out to the DPW workers for allowing people to move their cars after the north side of the street was plowed.  They let people finish digging their cars out of the snow before plowing the south side of the street.

Thank you DPW

For those with alley's I know you can appreciate the fact that Cudahy plows their alley's. I had to shovel snow at my mother in-laws house yesterday afternoon, near 8th & Ohio in Milwaukee.  The alley was not plowed so my youngest son Spencer & I parked on 8th & Euclid and walked up the street to get to the house.

While driving over to my mother in-laws house, I was amazed at how many people had abandoned their cars.  It made for snow plows to have to go around them, reducing parts of Layton Ave down to 1 lane. Even at 4:00 when I was coming home, the cars were still abandoned.

It was good to see neighbors helping each other out. Whether it was helping by pushing cars out of the snow or helping remove snow with shovels and snow blowers, there were a lot of thank you's and smiles.

Thank you neighbors.

I hope you have similiar positive stories.
