Different type of friends

friendship- different typs of friends, Jennifer Warren different types of friends.

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one” C.S. Lewis (BritishScholar and Novelist. 1898-1963)

We all have friends, some of them have been in our lives for many years and others to be still met in life. Friendships to some have little meaning or value and to others it’s a thing to cherish and nourish. The dictionary defines the word as “Somebody who trusts and is fond of another”, an ally, acquaintance, companion, pal, buddy.” There are many words to describe friends, and we all have the different types of them in our lives.

Lifetime friend: These are the ones that you’ve known forever. Despite they know more about you than you even know of yourself, they still choose to hang around. They have forgiven you for things that most would run away from and you hold their secrets as tight as they hold yours.  This type of friend defends you without you ever having to ask.

I need a favor friend: You know the type, you never hear from them unless they need something you have, and odds are that once provide the object of their need you won’t hear from them till the next time they need something. Once you’re left holding the dinner check when it was their turn you will probably scratch this one off your list.

Colleague friend: Friendships that blossom from meeting at work or while working. We all meet and become friends with those we spend 8 hours a day with 5 days a week. We share a common ground with our co workers and bond quickly based on this alone. I have built many work related friendships. You all hang out together; engaging in fun and social activities together. Some work related friendships have grown into lifelong friendships for me, while others dwindled away when the job ended. The cliché of “I promise I’ll keep in touch “after one is separated from the job fits here.

School days friend: We all enjoy being able to relive the days of our youth and what better way than to hash up old memories with someone that actually remembered those days? We all like to remain friends with someone from our past and keep those memories alive. After all who else understands those awkward times of growing up better than a classmate that shared those enduring moments with you?

Annual friend: This type of friend you only see  once a year or during that special occasion. This type of person makes up for the duration between meetings due to the shear enjoyment you have when you get together. You spend the entire time catching up since your last visit.

Social friend: With Twitter, facebook and text messaging on everyone’s phones we all have this type of friend. We talk via PCs or smart phones about our lives and daily activities.  Some of our friends here are not really well known by us, and some may be total strangers. Facebook is great for keeping in contact with friends and family living far away.

False friends: If you have been lucky enough not to encounter this type of “friend” you are fortunate. Usually the sincerity of this friend is in question, for they can pretend to be on your side, only to gossip about you behind your back and delight in your failures. This opposite of a True friend. False friends are deceptive, and often get close to you only so they can knock you down emotionally. It is best to stay away from this type of person as soon as you discover them to be a false friend.

Banker friend: The one that always is there in your time of need to lend you a few bucks till your next payday. Great to have one of these friends, but make sure you always pay them back or they become the next type of friend.

Tight fisted friend: Opposite of the Banker friend, and also the type that borrows from you and doesn’t like to pay you back.  Many of friendships have ended over unpaid loans.

Partner in crime friend: One that is fun to hang out with, always up for some adventure and will guarantee a fun time when they are around. Always great for a laugh and a time to remember when you’re around them.

It’s comical when you think of the different types of friends and friendships we have all had over the years. I love all of my friends, the lifelong ones as well as the new friends in my life. I hope they remain in my life forever.

If you're alone, I'll be your shadow.  If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder.  If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow.  If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile.  But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me.  ~Author Unknown
