Meeting St. Francis Mayoral Candidate Daniel J. O’Brien

Last week I went to the Meet & Greet that Mayoral Candidate O’Brien held at the St. Francis Brewery.

Before going I read his material.

My first impression was here is someone who gets it!  A common everyday guy who has the pulse of the city and has every day answers to the problems the city is facing.  A small business owner who knows what has to be done and will get it done.

Well, he was that and then some.

He has a way with explaining what he wants to convey in a manner that is easy to understand.

When I asked him, “Why did you decide to run for Mayor?”

He looked at me and said, “The Cardinal Stritch University fiasco.  The citizens of St. Francis deserve better.  That deal should have gone through.”

When I asked him, “What are you going to do differently as Mayor?”

He said, “I want to interact with the Council.  I want to be involved.  I want to get the Council Members to be engaged in the discussion and process.  I don’t want to just be a figure head that waves at the parades.  I want to make a real difference.”

He has a plan to turn the tide of taxes and that is to bring in businesses and help upgrade apartment complexes which will result in less of the tax burden on the backs of homeowners.

Mr. O’Brien will need your vote February 21st as the top two vote getters will move on to the general election.

I hope you get to meet him if you already haven’t as he makes a final push in his door-to-door get the vote out.  I think once you talk with him, you will agree with him.
