Cudahy man charged in prostitution case

An alleged pimp from Cudahy is awaiting trial on charges he trafficked and prostituted a 17-year-old girl and prostituted at least one other woman to work at motels around Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee last summer and fall.

Lamont Donnell Sholar, 30, has been charged with six felony counts, including trafficking of a child, human trafficking, soliciting a child for prostitution, pimping and second-degree sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint.

The teenage girl said she met Sholar through his cousin, Shawnrell K. Simmons, 28, of Milwaukee, when her friends wanted to try prostitution. From the end of June or beginning of July until the end of September, the complaint states, the girl had sex with four to eight men per night. Sholar also forced her to have sex with him, and threatened to kill her and her family after she stopped returning his calls, the complaint states.

According to the complaint:

Another 22-year-old woman said Sholar gave her the drug ecstasy and required her to have sex with men for money. She said that she had sex with eight to 10 men the first night, and that Sholar drove her around and threatened to harm her or her family if she didn't cooperate. The woman also said he forced her to have sex with him.

Sholar told police he was not a pimp but accused Simmons of being one.

Simmons has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of the 17-year-old while threatening her with a gun. Prosecutors later added charges of intimidation of a witness after police said he called and threatened the 22-year-old.

Both men are set for a final pretrial hearing in mid-March.
