I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
Last Saturday night, my wife and I enjoyed some adult time at a new Cudahy establishment. We had not been out to a local Cudahy establishment in a while so we thought we would walk down to a new business, The Salty Dog. We had the opportunigty to meet with Lisa & Donnie, 2 of the owners. They shared with us their vision, I let them know that I do have a blog and I would be willing to share their story. It is definitely someplace that we will be returning. Here is their story.
One month ago, my partners and I opened a new community based tavern in Cudahy called “The Salty Dog”. As patrons, Don Schermer, Anthony Winneshiek and I would often talk about an ideal place to be able to get together, enjoy a beverage and feel safe and comfortable. We believe we have created just that place!
One of the things that set us apart from some of the other local taverns is our vision of what we believe to be a great bar setting. We want our bar to be clean and inviting at all times. We have limited our music selections and aim for more of a country and rock crowd. Finding a bar that doesn’t focus on hip hop or heavy metal seems to be getting harder to find and we believe there is a big market out there for people that would enjoy a larger place and not be forced to listen to dance music and still have the option to play pool and darts.
Additionally, we enclosed a portion of our back yard and patio area to create a nice beer garden style area that you can enjoy your drink outside on. However, this isn’t the typical outdoor party area. We do practice noise control (out of respect for our neighbors) by not having any speakers outside for music and requiring either the bartender or one of the owners (usually onsite 7 days a week for a few hours) to step outside and regulate the voice volume of any patrons outside. We do this often throughout the night and more so on weekends when the bar is busier. We welcome any neighbors to call us (we’ve given several our personal cell phone numbers) and let us know if there are any issues with noise or patrons. Every morning before the bar opens, our opening Bartender takes a walk up and down the block cleaning up the neighborhood litter. We intend to keep our part of the neighborhood and community as clean and inviting as possible.
We offer Happy Hour specials from 3p.m.-6p.m. Monday through Friday. One of our big happy hour specials is the pizza, tap beer and call shot for only $10. Our pizzas are some of the best around! We have them handmade by DeNoon Saloon staff in Muskego and delivered to our bar weekly so you get the freshest pizza possible without a full kitchen. We are looking to expand our menu to appetizers within the next week or so. Our nightly specials include something for everyone throughout the week! Tuesday night is ladies night where ladies enjoy Cruzan Rum specials all night for half price! Wednesday night is our LATE NIGHT happy hour to accommodate our respected 2nd shifters from around the community.
We invite all members of the community to join us in a game of Bimini (you have to come in to find out what it is!), enjoy a delicious Cruzan Rum drink and good conversation! Find out why we named our bar “The Salty Dog” and have a good laugh! We love to see people from the neighborhood come in and welcome us! We hope our relationship with the Cudahy community and neighboring cities will continue to prosper throughout our time here at The Salty Dog!
