Disability Advocacy Day 2014- March 19

Meet with Your Legislators and Advocate for Disability Issues!

Register now for Disability Advocacy Day 2014! Last year, more than 400 people from around Wisconsin met with their legislators and advocated for important disability issues. Participate in this year’s event and have your voice heard!

The Survival Coalition of Wisconsin Disability Organizations is hosting Disability Advocacy Day in Madison on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Disability Advocacy Day connects you with your legislators so you can share your story and tell them what issues are important to you.

If you participate in Disability Advocacy Day, you will have the opportunity to:

Attend a briefing about current disability issues,

Plan your legislative visits with others from your district,

Meet with your legislators and/or staff to discuss the issues that are important to you, and

Debrief with Survival Coalition staff about your visits and discuss next steps to stay in touch with your legislators.

Check in for the event begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Legislative visits will take place at the Capitol between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. More information about the event is available.

After the events of Disability Advocacy Day, the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (BPDD) will host a reception at the Concourse Hotel, one block from the Capitol. All Disability Advocacy Day participants are welcome to attend the reception and celebrate with fellow disability advocates, legislators, and BPDD Board members.

You can register online or by submitting a completed registration form. The deadline to register is Thursday, Mar. 13. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with more details about the event.
