I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.
There seems to be some confusion surrounding the Cudahy Town Hall Facebook page. Being an active member of the group, I thought I would put to rest some of the concerns.
First and foremost, the page has no affiliation to the Official City of Cudahy or its Facebook page. Speaking for me, my wife and a number of other individuals that have shared their thoughts on the page, we were aware of this when we first started to participate on the page We knew that this was not affiliated with the City of Cudahy in anyway, never had any inclination that there was official City input, other than when elected officials would post something. But this in no way gave me the impression that is was in any way connected with the City.
From my experiences, the majority of the “real” members of the group have a passion for Cudahy. Do some go overboard at times, maybe even to the point of bullying? I think some do, but it is their passion for the City that keeps me coming back. I have read blogs were the author is going after elected officials, I assume that too could be considered bullying.
I am getting to know some of my fellow residents through this page, people I probably would not come across because we may be at different stages in our lives or have different interests and our paths may never cross.
I guess that the impression that this was tied to the City is not much different than a fellow blogger who is an elected official in the City. At times, there have been those that have asked me if what is written is official City business because it is coming from an elected official. I always refer them back to the author as I can’t speak to that.
I wonder if some of the goings on with this page recently has anything to do with the fact that we are coming up on the one year anniversary of the Spring Elections 2013 and some people may be looking to deflect the attention away from the fact they may have not had the success they had hoped for in the first year, thus having little to show for their efforts. I am not here pointing fingers or calling anybody out. This is up to each official to decide for themselves. It is just a thought that I have had.
So again, to reiterate, the Cudahy Town Hall Facebook page is not, in any way affiliated with the City of Cudahy. The topics of conversations are focused on the goings on in the City, but it is residents and some others who have some connection to Cudahy, thinking out loud.
