Jennifer is a one in a million stay-at-home mom. (More like one OF a million stay at home moms!) She graduated from a liberal arts college but there is nothing liberal OR artsy about her. She is married to Kevin Fischer of This Just In, and together they have a beautiful young daughter Kyla Audrey. In no particular order she loves dogs, wine, a good bargain, her family, pizza, and entertaining. Follow her blog of all things miscellaneous including but not limited to cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, being a mommy, and homekeeping.
Kyla has a cute little ceramic princess piggy bank that she got from Santa a couple years ago. She fell in love with it and desperately wanted it, so I told her she could ask for it for Christmas. We have the tradition in our home that Santa only brings one gift, and a modest one at that. I have my reasons why.
At any rate, Piggy gets “fed” regularly. When Daddy has spare change that isn’t earmarked for parking meters or a vending machine beverage, he hands it off to Kyla. There’s really no rhyme or reason to it, but it’s certainly not immediately after she’s been reminded to pick up her toys for the umpteenth time. She needs to display good behavior, etc.
She likes feeling grown up, and has the sense that she has SO MUCH MONEY. But she knows better than to ask for it, and knows it will be saved towards “something special.” And that’s the extent of it. Clearly a portion of our family budget is not to bribe our child. And it never will be.
