Why Not

I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.

This is What Community is All About

Having just completed my first Sweet Applewood Days as an official member of the Cudahy Lions, I have to share what the highlight of the weekend was for me.

On Sunday morning, I was asked to walk to Ramsey Woods to assist with getting residents who could not independently get to the festival to attend the Polka Mass. To see 15-20 Cudahy Lions Club members walking along Ramsey Ave, to assist these individuals in becoming engaged in the community, kind of took my breath away. First walking proudly towards Ramsey Woods, then having conversations with those individuals as they assisted with their wheelchairs back to the festival, was a sight I will never forget.  Many of the residents stayed for lunch on the grounds and returned to listen to the polka music for a while before returning to their home. Being active in ensuring individuals with disabilities are engaged in the community, this just reaffirms why I am a proud member of the Cudahy Lions Club.

As I expressed my awe at the sight, to a more seasoned and fellow Lion, he thought nothing of it and said that it just the right thing to do.  I shared with him some of the struggles that individuals with disabilities face when trying to be a part of the community. While thinking nothing of what we did as Lions, I can almost guarantee that these individuals, who had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours in their community, it could be the highlight of their week.

This is why Cudahy is a great community.
