At this Tuesday’s meeting of the Franklin Common Council, members will vote to set a recall election date of September 8, 2015 in Aldermanic District #4. Janet Evans currently holds the seat. Enough recall signatures were submitted to force the recall that by state statutes must be held on September 8, 2015.
The winner of the recall serves the rest of the term through the third Tuesday of April in 2017. Nomination papers are due quickly, August 11, 2015.
The cost for the recall election according to the city of Franklin’s website could be up to $3,000. The City Clerk’s Office will not be requesting additional funding to cover the cost. Since this recall will change the upcoming work schedule of the City Clerk’s Office, it is anticipated that funding will be available from accounts where planned expenditures may no longer occur prior to the end of 2015.
So the recall has an effect on city funding, the workload of the City Clerk’s Office, and city services.
More to come.
