Pothole Patrol

Come across any potholes lately?  Is the road bumpier than it used to be?

Potholes occur when moisture seeps into a crack in the pavement. When the water freezes, the pavement expands and when temperatures climb, it contracts. Heavy vehicular traffic ultimately causes the cracks to become larger holes.

The crazy up-and-down temperatures in Wisconsin are taking a real toll on many roads. The winter storms are making the roads messy enough, but don't forget to add potholes to the mix when planning your commute. As the freeze-and-thaw cycle starts breaking up city pavement, transportation department crews are hitting the streets, patching hundreds of potholes per day. However, the city can’t fix potholes if it doesn’t know about them.

The DPW needs your help in locating potholes and other dangerous cracks in the street.  If they don't know they're out there, they will not have an "action plan." to fix them.

Join the pothole patrol.  Please post to let everyone know specific locations where you've found the biggest potholes. Share any pothole sightings in hopes that we can spare some drivers from having to replace tires or more and we can get the problem fixed.
