John Manke is an active former Bay View resident who is involved in numerous neighborhood organizations, including the Bay View Historical Society, the Humboldt Park Fourth of July Association and the Shore Shore Farmers Market. He believes Bay View has a fine tradition in its past that we do not want to lose in the future.
Here is the news that you have been waiting for. The South Shore Farmers Market will open its 11th season on June 20, 2009 and run until the middle of October. The market is open on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m. until 12 Noon. There will be an educational program early followed by a musicial presentation afterwards. There will be over 40 vendors on site. Come early, buy coffee or a liquid refreshment and some bakery and sit at a picnic table, if one is available. Enjoy the day's activities and relax with your family You can bring your dog along, providing that it is on a leash and you clean up after it. The South Shore Farmers Market is one of the best in the Milwaukee area. Everybody is welcome to come and enjoy themselves. The food is always fresh. Hot foods are also available at certain locations at the market. There is no cost for coming, but parking spaces are scarce. The first come, first served on the parking spaces. You can always park near the park and walk to the market, since it is located near the center of South Shore Park, located at 2900 S. Shore Drive in Bay View.
