The amount of overtime related to the fire, police and other efforts, must be a budget buster. If you want to be proactive, you could move with a resolution to take the money from contingency, rather than killing the all ready depleted overtime budgets in those departments.
Some of the firefighters are going to pull anywhere from $1,500 to almost $3,000 in overtime. Take that times 20 firefighters, and what a bill to their budget. Same goes for the police side, while the overtime per man may not be as high, it is still going to hit their bottom line.
