The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

How to Run for Mayor Part 1

Cudahy, Mayor, Local Government, Leadership, Info

Get a copy of your city or town's charter, which will outline the requirements for getting your name on the ballot.  To earn a slot on the ballot, usually you will need a petition that may require many signatures to be collected in a specific time frame.

Cudahy requires 200 signatures for Mayor.

If you don't end up on the ballot, consider a write-in campaign, providing voters with stickers that fit on a ballot with your write in information.  The name must be spelled exactly correct or it will not count.

Attend city meetings.

Do your homework.  Do open record requests.  Look at old campaign literature.  How did they do on their campaign promises from the previous election?

Compare and contrast city data before the current Mayor took office to the present.  Is the city better off?

Setup a website and email address just for your campaign.  Consider putting together a short video clip (use youtube if needed).  The website will help in getting your message across and may help you to articulate differences and why you are the right person for the job.

Get your supporters to help you hand out literature.  Remember it is against the law to put things in mailboxes.  Make your literature like the do not disturb signs at hotels, so they hang off the doorknobs.

Finance a campaign by petitioning community members and organizations for donations.

Get endorsements, but be careful to whom you choose.
