The Way I See It!

I am an Ultra-Conservative, Alpha-Male, True Authentic Leader, Type "C" Personality, who is very active in my community; whether it is donating time, clothes or money for Project Concern or going to Common Council meetings and voicing my opinions. As a blogger, I intend to provide a different viewpoint "The way I see it!" on various world, national and local issues with a few helpful tips & tidbits sprinkled in.

Guest Blog - Chris Kliesmet on Clearing up some CRG Misnomers

CRG, Milwaukee County, Taxes, Guest Blog

1. CRG is not working for anyone’s campaign.  We are advocating for Milwaukee County policies.  Other’s advocate on the other side.

2. I guess if you define “coercion” as telling your elected representative how you expect them to vote and engaging in lawful activity then I guess we are coercing the people we pay to represent us.  I thought that is the way it is supposed to work in America.  Tell me, what exactly do you call it when union members crash our events and yell, “No more cuts, Walker sucks!”  and block the entrance to our meetings.  Oh yeah, that would be called “intimidation.”

3. Pat Jursik, who has resorted to name-calling, backed the tripling of the sales tax (after it was rejected by her constituents) and other resolutions that increased spending before huddling with Holloway for two and one half hours during a break in the voting and being allowed to make a safe vote against the budget.  CRG is not fooled by this common political ruse for a minute.  Sounds a lot like John Kerry’s, “I actually voted for the $87 billion right before I voted against it.”

4. The sales tax would have raised twice the amount given to property tax relief.  Great deal!  I’ll give you a $60 million property tax rebate if I can charge you $120 million more in sales taxes.  Moreover, the property tax “relief” is capped while the sales tax would continue to grow.  Finally, how many times have we heard the false promise of property tax relief if we only let politicians create or raise another tax?

5. Regarding DeBruin, see Item 3.  DeBruin voted for $250,000 to fund more dog parks.  Gee, how many county employees will be fired to pay for this top priority expenditure?

6. “In 2005, Kleismet told the Milwaukee Journal that he was working with Walker to install some warped version of Six Sigma, and that he was hoping to parlay that into business selling it to other governmental bodies.”  This is a bald-faced lie.  I worked with a group of volunteers that offered Six Sigma (the world’s leading quality methodology) to Milwaukee County at no charge to improve service quality and reduce costs.  I was then asked by Spivak and Bice if some other governmental body outside Wisconsin approached me would I charge them for my time.  Of course, I said yes.  I would say yes if the Green Bay Packers offered to let me play quarterback but that is just as unlikely.  This was simply a misleading question used by Spivak and Bice to generate false controversy.  There was no business plan in place, no offer was ever made to any other government body nor were any requests received from any government body.  Oh yeah, the Green Bay Packers never called either.

7. “I also distinctly remember that there was a great deal of controversy after Walker won the recall election in 2002 because he wanted to give office space in the County Courthouse to Kleismet and CRG.”  Time for that Alzheimer’s checkup.  CRG constructed a 10-point platform that was distributed to candidate.  One of the items was that a citizen watchdog office be established with access to online records where citizens could go to monitor county government.  Walker never asked for it, CRG did.  Furthermore, CRG never asked that it be a “CRG Office.”

8. CRG plays by the rules and is happy to be as transparent as the other side.  Funny how irate the other side gets when we do exactly what they do.  The mark of a real bully is how they react when you push back and don’t shy away!

9. I am always amused when others suggest what CRG should do.  CRG does plenty.  I suggest if these people want other things done then they should stop talking about it and do them.  Oh, but that would take a little work and initiative.  Much easier to just prattle on about what CRG doesn’t do!

10. If people were interested in the truth, they could have easily called me – I would be happy to have lunch with they – on me!  Did he know CRG has actually helped raise taxes on occasion and that we actually advocated in favor of county workers after one of Walker’s layoffs?  Do they know I was one of two CRG board members who voted AGAINST endorsing Scott Walker back in 2002?  Yeah, I thought not.  Instead, they are interested in propagating half-truths and lies all the while complaining about how CRG forcefully engages in the process while they whine.
