Maybe Cudahy Can Get the JC Penney Outlet Store Back

JC Penney Outlet store to close

JC Penney Co. will close its outlet store at 10332 W. Silver Spring Dr. on December 4, a company spokeswoman said.

"The store hasn't consistently met its goals for sales and profits for the past few years," said Ann Marie Bishop, spokeswoman for Penney's in Plano, Tex.  The store's lease expires at the end of the year, she said.

It became less efficient for the company to operate the outlet on the northwest side after Penney's closed its catalog operations here in 2002.  Merchandise from the catalog center had gone to the Silver Spring store prior to the closing, Bishop said.

When the outlet store closes, 113 people could lose their jobs. Some may be able to get other jobs with the company, Bishop said.

Maybe Lara Fritts can get them back to the Packard Plaza.  It would be a destination!
