Why Not

I am a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. I believe in sharing my talents and experiences by giving back to the community by giving my time to coaching, church and especially to the disability community. I truly believe that all men and women are created equally.

Music and Movies

I have always been the kind of person who enjoys listening to music whenever possible.  I have no personal  musical talent, in fact my family takes away the hymnal away from me at church, but I enjoy it none the less. Today it is the Stones, Springsteen, Steely Dan, Santana ands Stevie Ray.  Tommorow it may be Davis Coltrane, Rollins and Marsalis.

I think the thing that stikes me most these days is how often the kids will come to me and ask when we got  a particular soundtrack from a kids movie.  I have to tell them that for the most that I have the original CD's, in some cases I have the original albums.  I still have my Beatles White Album and Dark Side of the Moon with the posters in them.

Whether it be Shrek 2 with Bowie's Changes or Chicken Little with Queen to Glee with Journey, most of today's movies and shows contain older songs.  When I hear You Can't Always Get What You Want, I think of the Big Chill, my kids think about Glee.

The people who plan the music for a particular movie or show, usually seem to know what demographics they are looking at to get people involved.  I am glad that my kids are experiencing music from my era.

I just don't see any of todays acts having the longevity of some artists from years gone by.  Will Miley Cyrus still be singing into her late 60's like Mick Jagger?
