Happy Anniversary to the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
It was 20 years ago today that this very important piece of legislation was signed into law. The ADA is often compared to the National Civil Rights Act of 1964. No longer could individuals with any form of disability be discriminated against legally.

It is hard to believe that the ADA has only been around for 20 years, but I guess if it took until 1964 for the Civil Rights Act to be passed, nothing should be surprising anymore.
For those who are interested, there will be a celebration held at 11:00 today at the Mason Street Riverwalk. A short program will follow at 11:30. The event is being put on by Independence First. http://independencefirst.org/
