For students interested in obtaining HIGH DEMAND, LUCRATIVE engineering, and other applied math and science careers, PLTW is an exciting way to gain entry to these industries.
Bay View High School will offer the Pathway to Engineering program, which includes the following three courses: Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, and Digital Electronics. The program will culminate with a specialty course in civil engineering and architecture. After meeting certain qualifications, students can earn college credit for their PLTW coursework.
Project Lead the Way is a way to introduce students to engineering while they're still in secondary school but also to teach them skills such as workin in teams, forming and testing hypotheses, critical thinking and problem-solving.
Project Lead the Way monitors the quality of its courses through a certification process administered by higher education partners and end-of-year assessments of students. Teachers also have to pass content exams before they are allowed to teach the courses.
