Dear Cudahy Citizens of District 3,
I was selected by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Community Now in 2008 as one of three influential people in Cudahy making a difference.
As a citizen of Cudahy I have made it a priority to work on Community Safety:
I petitioned, lobbied, and successfully received to have 4 additional stop signs added to control speeding cars to improve community safety.
Fought hard to keep the roundabouts in Cudahy down to a minimum when the DOT and local officials want to go roundabout crazy in Cudahy on College Ave.
Helped along with fellow Cudahy Citizen Darren Grams to shape and improve the Cudahy Sex Offender Ordinance with the Ordinance’s creator Cudahy District 1 Alderman Joe Mikolajczak to an Ordinance that was fair for all of Cudahy.
Went to Madison to testify at the Capitol Senate hearing as the only citizen from Cudahy to defend Cudahy’s home rule and keep our Sex Offender Ordinance intact.
Worked with the DOT to adjust the stoplights on the 794 Parkway both on Layton Ave and Oklahoma Ave to allow for better traffic flow.
Worked with the DOT to get the overhead 794 Parkway sign on the Northbound lane of Pennsylvania to correctly show which lane you need to be in to access the Parkway to improve safety.
Involved with the Cudahy Neighborhood Watch group.
Involved with helping on the Cudahy National Night Out events.
Participated and graduated in the Cudahy Citizens Police Academy to improve public safety, awareness and develop stronger ties with the Cudahy Police Department.
Worked with St. Francis Engineering Department when I was informed the Howard Ave. lights to enter the 794 Parkway Southbound on ramp could not be seen from Semi-trucks to resolve this safety issue.
I am concerned about development:
I was the leader of the Cudahy Citizens for Wal-Mart grassroots action committee in lobbying to allow Wal-Mart to build on the Iceport land.
Contacted national businesses about building in Cudahy.
Talked with local developers about development in Cudahy
I am concerned with taxes:
Gave a speech on maintaining lower Milwaukee County Taxes during one of then, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker’s, budget events.
I have worked on city transparency and accountability:
Involved with the exploratory committee to do open record requests into the possible recall of then Mayor McCue.
Have come in front of the Common Council to speak out on various topics.
Have and will continue to fight hard that the voters of Cudahy should have the say in a binding referendum of a change of local government to a Part-time Mayor, Full-Time Administrator
Organized and ran a city wide Mayoral Debate in Cudahy in 2010.
I was able to convince Mayor McCue to hold the “State of City” meetings to get needed information to the citizens of Cudahy.
Contacted the GAB (Government Accountability Board) on various infractions in Cudahy elections and city procedures.
Have been a watchdog on Gas stations in Cudahy not following state law when it comes to changing the price of gas and have contacted the State of Wisconsin’s Weights and Measures and Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
Instrumental with my community blog to inform the public on various City events, issues, and topics.
And these were done from the outside just as a caring citizen. Imagine what WE, the people, can accomplish from the inside as an Alderman with informative citizens guiding my way not pushing my agenda, but the people’s agenda.
